報告簡介➰：Despite the fact that management is an important factor in production we know surprisingly little about its optimal use. The reason is that generally we neither observe management’s quantity nor its price. In this paper we take advantage of the quantity measurement effort by Bloom and Van Reenen (2007) and estimate the shadow price of management. Besides producing a monetary value for management, relative shadow prices also allow us to analyze how easily management substitutes with other inputs and whether it is used optimally in relation to those other inputs. We find that the shadow price of management is about 1.3 million US dollars. Management substitutes for labor and capital but on average firms’ management practices are too poor relative to their use of labor and capital.
報告人簡介：Thomas Triebs, 英國拉夫堡大學（英國排名前10）經濟學講師👩🎨。2010年獲得英國劍橋大學博士學位，曾經工作於德國慕尼黑Ifo Institute for Economic Research，英國阿斯頓大學商意昂3以及英國劍橋大學能源政策研究小組👨🦼。Thomas的研究側重於公司業績及其驅動因素，包括研究公司的最佳結構，公有和私有製之間的績效差異🤽🏼♂️，以及公司的內部組織🌃，包括管理實踐🦸。他的論文發表在了諸如Energy Policy，Journal of Productivity Analysis，Economics Letters等國際頂尖期刊上。
